Help STOP North America's Largest Proposed Coal Export Terminal in Bellingham, WA USA

Our community (and our planet) is faced with North America's largest proposed coal export terminal, shipping coal to Asia to burn. We all have a voice in the process by submitting scoping comments to form the Environmental Impact Statement. Comments on topics for consideration will be collected and reviewed. We need to have as many comments as possible regarding the impacts of increased CO2 emissions from such a project. I want to help move people to action to comment on the impacts of climate change through environmental education talks at churches and schools in our community. I will use the prize to fund a Climate Reality Project Leadership training course and a projector to do these environmental talks. This will help educate, engage and inspire our community to take action at this critical time as the initial public scoping period is nearing. Bellingham, WA USA. Our community takes pride in our sustainability efforts. If any community can fight this, it will be Bellingham, WA which will lead the way for other communities to take action as there are several proposed terminals down the coast.

China is already building 10+ coal power plants a day today, & considering the size & population of China additional coal supply would be dangerous. This is not to ignore the catastrophy to our coal producing southern states poisoning the air & water, threatening the health of their people, & destroying their beautiful mountains & hills. Must be stopped!

Jill is at the leading edge of creating high leverage change because Bellingham is a crucial point in deciding which kind of future we will have. Defeating this coal port will set back the whole system that profits from destroying our future. However, if the coal port is built it will support pumping millions of pounds of CO2 and other pollutants into the atmosphere for decades. This is a big, real, long-term threat we have to stop. Go Jill! And if you're undecided, vote for Jill.

Jill MacIntyre Witt is a Bellingham hero. We are told that our town has no voice in this matter. Even our new mayor sits on the fence and takes no action, using that very rationale. But it's individuals like Jill who stand up and demonstrate leadership by finding pro-active ways to ultimately make a difference. I cast my vote for Jill.
