The Idea

Creative OMNI350 members will put on a classic melodrama featuring the evils of fracking... the gas-drilling horror now sweeping Arkansas. It will be performed multiple times in readers theatre fashion with youth and adults in a variety of settings, and finally produced as a community event with splash and hoopla. The Melodrama is titled "Grassy Graves of Garden Grove", and a synopsis is posted at the website above. The play is charming, tear-jerking in a funny kind of way, and we know audiences will be entranced, especially since this is an alarming issue Arkansas is just now beginning to wake up to. Funds will be used to purchase simple props and costumes, transport the director and actors to parts of the state that are uninformed about the issue, and provide printing and publicity.

Fayetteville Arkansas is a progressive university town in the not-so-progressive South. It has a base of informed support for environmental issues where this type of activity can be developed and is close to areas that need to be informed.

We'd prefer to showcase it during Earth Month next April, so should begin production in January.

Humor can penetrate where intellect fears to tread. Light outreach is best.

This melodrama is an exceptionally creative way among ways to connect more people to the realities of climate change and one another so we can build more momentum towards solutions in mitigation and adaptation. Don't delay in casting your vote for Fracking: The Melodrama.

This melodrama is going to be a real community-builder. It's had one read-through recently and is still evolving. Everybody had a blast though. Wonder if people in outer fracking areas might want to use it too?

Outer fracking areas sounds kinda exotic I meant "other" fracking areas. We're in the Fayetteville shale play in Arkansas.

Raising animals for meat is the culprit. Stop pretending to be environmentalists while eating meat--unless you raised it, hunted it, and slaughtered it yourself. Eating fast-food meat or meat from the grocery store is worse than driving a Hummer!
