The Idea

The Boston-area is home to dozens of academic institutions. While many have energy clubs and sustainability programs not all do, and not all campuses are working together to promote shared learning. Why have all these campuses trying to make it all up on their own? Our Future will bring together active members of many Boston-area campuses at monthly meetings and events. These meetings will be a forum to share sustainability projects and promote a broad learning platform so that individual campuses, big and small, can make constructive progress to reducing their carbon footprint. Our Future also looks to disseminate lessons learned in the classrooms of members schools and the media so that the learning does not end with just the insiders. By sharing results in classes and other campus and community events the net of impact will be cast wide promoting accurate facts of local sustainability project cases studies. Funds will be used for events and brief case study write-ups.

Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts. As stated above, the sheer number of academic institutions holds great potential impact in the region. These campuses use huge amounts of energy and products, and by identifying one campus' success all can benefit.

July to December 2012 By engaging with institutional staff and faculty during the summer months constructive progress can be made with student-led initiatives starting in September when students return.

By sharing sustainability projects at one school all schools will be able to implement them.

Is your project a new idea, or was it initiated after November 2011?: New.
